Christine Alford was born and raised in San Diego, California. She moved to Denver in 2005, where she began a family of her own. Christine embraces the opportunity to utilize her lived experiences, voice, and knowledge as a way to uplift her community and combat systemic barriers, racism and injustices.
Christine has a passion for youth and community. She envisions a world where there is equitable access to education, mental health and wellness, along with financial stability.
Over the past 12 years Christine has dedicated her professional time as a DPS Kitchen Manager, where she was able to provide school day nutritious meals to the students. She served as a parent liaison for Heart and Hand center for youth and their families for 2 years before she joined the organization as a staff member.
Christine worked for Heart and Hand in multiple different roles over the course of 8 years, where she developed her niche for youth programs and Non profit management. She has supported over 100 students and their families by maintaining positive relationships and connecting them resources needed to become self-sufficient.
In 2019 Christine became the first woman of color Executive Director of Denver Food Rescue. She led the organization during the world's most vulnerable time of the Covid 19 outbreak, which shut the city down and left thousands of Denver's families without fresh food.
Christine is a Denverites 2021 Rising star award recipient. Nourish Colorados 2021 Community Food Champion awardee, and continues to be a voice for community with a purpose on purpose unapologetically. In her spare time, you can find Christine at a sporting event with her husband and boys, or watching a good show on tv.
